"Everything's OK"

I went to go see The Queers on my vacation to Atlanta a few months ago, and I gave this drawing to Joe Queer

"There is nothing beyond the rainbow, except disapointment and death"

Here's an illustration I did for a new podcast from Frank Conniff (TV's Frank from Mystery Science Theater 3000)

Frank is starting up a new scripted anthology radio play series under the banner "Podhouse 90". The first play is "The Wonderful Pundits of Oz", a hilarious musical satire of modern news media outlet coverage played out against the backdrop of the land of Oz. It stars Melissa Villasenor, Dave "Gruber" Allen", David Higgins, J. Elvis Weinstein, Dana Gould, Emo Philips. Laranie Newman, Mark Thompson, Janie Haddad Tompkins, Joe Keyes, and Frank Conniff. You can download it from iTunes here or get it here

This was a fun project to work on. Besides obviously being a fan of Franks's work with Mystery Science Theater, Cartoon Dump, and Invader ZIM, I'm also a  big fan of old radio plays. I listen to a lot of them while drawing. A lot of the classics like Jack Benny, Superman, and The Lone Ranger. You can find a bunch of those for free here. I based the whole layout for the illustration off of this old Wizard of Oz poster

I wanted to keep simple monochromatic color palettes for the characters. The inspiration for that was the old Rankin Bass "Tales Form The Wizard of Oz" from 1961.

The original version I drew included the Wicked Witch, but Frank asked me to lose since she doesn't appear in the play.
